Director of Operations

Essential Functions:

  1. Direct the actions of planning, manufacturing and facilities as well as take a hands-on role in driving the continuous improvement of manufacturing.
  2. Build a strong operations team that can drive robust increases in performance that consistently achieve revenue, on-time shipment, manufacturing productivity and first pass yields that meet or exceed schedules and budgets.
  3. Accountable for achieving Operational Excellence (revenue, profit, on-time shipment, and 4% COPQ) and other projects/processes in the operations group that drive continuous improvement.

Job Duties:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations with emphasis placed on meeting production, on-time delivery and quality goals in manufacturing.
  • Ensure proper execution and adherence to USI’s inventory policies and production plans.
  • Standardize metrics and reporting and communicate proactive results to ensure performance is clearly understood by all employees.
  • Initiate continuous improvement objectives and track and standardize processes.
  • Implement project management accountability to achieve high performance results, tactical execution and >90% on-time-shipment (OTS) on all projects and all open action items.
  • Create organizational bench strength through personal development plans, succession planning and performance coaching.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years of job experience in managing a manufacturing operation.
  • 5+ years of consistent working experience within the same company.
  • Excellent decision making skills and a proven ability to contribute to a prior company’s success.
  • Strong working knowledge and aptitude for following the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience with thin film design, manufacturing, medical device or other related industry preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Energetic; able to adapt and thrive in a fast paced learning environment.
  • Strong planning, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Skilled in the use of materials planning systems, visual communication tools and cell operations.
  • Knowledgeable in the techniques of capacity planning and cycle time reduction.
  • Demonstrated team building, management, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated approach to generating new ideas and continuously improving operations.
